NUMBER 66 - APRIL 24, 2019

IT'S CALLED THE QUARTERLY "GIFT DISCLOSURE FORM," BUT IT'S ACTUALLY THE WAY THAT SAVVY POLITICIANS LAUNDER THOSE LOW -LEVEL BRIBES THAT ARE CONSIDERED MORE LIKE THE TIPS YOU GIVE YOUR WAITRESS FOR GOOD SERVICE, AND IF THERE'S ONE THING THAT KATHERINE FERNANDEZ-RUNDLE HAS EXCELLED AT FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS IS GIVING GOOD SERVICE TO THE FOLKS ON THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS LIST

If there is any one thing that crystalizes the level of corruption in Miami-Dade County, and the abject refusal of the local news media to treat this as the public scandal that it has become, it's the fact that Katherine Fernandez-Rundle, the Miami-Dade State Attorney,  continues to rake in the swag.

In January of 2015, I revealed that she had accepted "gifts" totalling $62,611.75, over the previous seven years, "including jewelry, hotel rooms, limo service, wine, and of course gobs of free tickets to all kinds of events from personal friends, corporate sponsors of events, lobbyists and law firms."

She even, I reported at the time, had accepted wine and flowers from OJ Simpson's best Miami friend, Tom Scotto, because as he told me when I asked, "She has helped me out a few times."

There's nothing like having a State Attorney willing to help you out, "a few times."

Time seems to fly when there is more corruption to report on than a guy like me can focus on, but it dawned on me recently that I had't checked on whether Fernandez-Rundle was still up to her old tricks, and so I submitted the appropriate public record requests, and sure enough, she's still raking in the swag like a coked out D List celebrity strolling threw the Swag Roon at some sleazy TV awards show.

Since 2015 she's taken tickets to events like the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, the Latin Music Awards, Jazz In The Garden, Latin Song Writers Hall Of Fame La Musica Awards, a Mark Anthony concert, a Pit Bull and Julio Inglesias concert, a Miss Universe Viewing and After Party, a Juan Luis Guerra concert, a dozen or more galas and Black Tie events, and of course a bunch of luncheons, a couple airplane trips, a couple bottles of wine and some fancy flower arrangements.

Covering the tab for all of these events which started at $100.00 and went all the way up to $3000.00, for tickets for her and on occasion, her long time multi-millionaire boyfriend, were a few of her personal friends, and law firms like Stuart Grossman, Esq., Morrison, Brown, Argiz, and Company, P.A., Manny Morales, Esq., Jorge Luis Lopez, Holland & Knight, Lipscomb, Eisenberg & Baker PL. Greenspoon Marder,  Ferraro & Associates, PA, Donet, McMillian & Trontz, Akerman Senterfitt, Podhurst Orseck PA, and Colson Hicks Eidson.

When you add it all up, it came to $46,610.00, and added to the $62,611.75, that comes to a tidy $109,221,74, or approximately $9,000 a year in swag that she's collected in the last 12 years.

How sweet is that?

You would be hard pressed to find this kind of behavior by a State Attorney elsewhere in Florida.  The State Attorney is entrusted with prosecuting wrong-doers, and therefore responsibly for helping to set a tone of civic probity for the community. One would expect her to set the highest standards, if for no other reason than to protect herself and her office against the implications of impropriety.  In that regard, there should be a sign outside her office that says in BIG, BOLD LETTERS:

WE DON'T ACCEPT ANYTHING FROM ANYONE

That's the kind of standard you would want and expect from a reputable State Attorney, and not the behavior that mirrors some bimbo TV star with an exaggerated sense of entitlement, strolling through a "gift" room of some award show and coming out with all the swag she could stuff in her bra, or drag out the door in a "Gift Bag."

This is just one of the reasons that I continue to claim that she is the most corrupt public official in Miami-dade County!

It really is It's Miami, Bitches!

Here are all the FORM 9's from January 2015 through January of 2019.

SURREPTITIOUS PHOTO OF THE DAY - IT SEEMS THAT EVEN THE CITY OF MIAMI DOESN'T KNOW WHICH EMPLOYEES GOT CREDENTIALS FOR THE ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL
