IT'S TWO DAYS BEFORE THE PRIMARY ELECTION: DO YOU KNOW HOW YOUR CAMPAIGN DONATION GOT SPENT?

WHEN IT COMES TO THE DIAZ DE LA PORTILLA BROTHERS, "PUBLIC SERVICE" IS THE SLOGAN THEY USE TO COLLECT MONEY THROUGH CAMPAIGN DONATIONS THAT EITHER FINANCES THEIR LIFESTYLES, OR THAT OF THEIR PALS

I've written a number of stories over the years about how campaign money is raised, spent, and on occasion disappears into one rat hole only to pop up out of another, and this year the subject of my stories have been Alex and Renier Diaz de la Portilla, who has been the target of some pretty accurate political campaign mailers in his latest foray into "public service," like this one sent out last month by a group supporting Eileen "La Gringa" Higgins.

CRESPOGRAM SERIES

Over the years however, these guys, and other aspiring "public servants" have learned that the Miami Herald will seldom if ever do any serious reporting on how they raise or spend campaign money; the State Attorney will not prosecute anyone for campaign law violations no matter how flagrant they might be; and the Florida Elections Commission, might, and I emphasis might, decide to investigate and conclude months or years later that maybe somebody went a little too far and slap them with a fine.

So with that acquired body of knowledge, sleaze-balls like the Diaz de la Portillas become brazen in their behavior.

Why not? Whose to stop them?

And so, for anyone curious enough to spend about 5 minutes looking at the latest filings of some of the candidates for county commission - and obviously no one else seemed to be curious enough to do this - they would have discovered that Renier Diaz de la Portilla's PAC, Local Leadership For Miami-Dade County had in the last week transferred a total of $75,000 to his brother Alex's PAC, Proven Leadership For Miami-Dade County PC.

No one has ever accused either one of these two as being creative, and even though a search of Alex Diaz de la Portilla's PAC's expenses show that he was probably spending some of his PAC money on TV buys for Renier's campaign, the $75,000 was not given to Alex's PAC as a reimbursement, but as, "Contributions."

In a previous story a couple weeks ago - I've unfortunately been off-line because my computer had some software problems and my tech guy was out of town - I wrote about how Alex Diaz de la Portilla has been using his PAC as his personal piggy bank since he got elected to finance his lifestyle.

Here is the list of expenses that I provided then about Alex's spending of PAC money, which given the volume indicates that he obviously seems to have a debit or credit card that allows him to do this, which raises the question of supposed seperation between a candidate and a PAC?

These guys behave shamelessly because the supposed Watchdogs behave shamelessly.

It's Miami. Bitches!
