CITY COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR EUGENE RAMIERZ DENIES HE WAS ASKED TO RESIGN, BUT SAYS HE'S LEAVING "TO PURSUE AN OPPORTUNITY IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Stephanie Odile Severino, Deputy Director of Communications, with Eugene Ramirez sharing a caficita.

Rumors of the long knives being welded inside City Hall over the unhappiness of Mayor Francis Suarez dismal failure to get the votes needed for him to become Miami Strong Mayor have been the talk of the town over the last few days, especially on Latin radio where Raul Martinez, has become the radio host to listen to in you're interested in Miami politics.

While Suarez has lacked the courage to talk back to Joe Carollo, he's stomped around City Hall in a funk accusing any number of people of being responsible for the Strong Mayor referendum not passing.

Instead of looking in the mirror at the true culprit of his failure, or starting with the person he should fire, that being Jesse Manzano, who can't be much of a strategic thinker or campaign manager if the referendum documents and the spending of $3,230,634.50 in this unsuccessful effort were largely his doing, the word on the street is that Suarez settled on Ramirez and his personal Communications Director Gabriela "Gaby" Castillo, as the most likely sacrificial lambs.

Yesterday I wrote Ramirez, whose only been on the job 9 months, asking if the rumors were true.

He replied.

"Voluntarily submitting my resignation," is often seen as a euphemism for, "Do you want to jump or be pushed from the ledge."

Everybody wants to work for the government unless, and until those opportunities in the "private sector," start looking good.

I also contacted Rene Pedroza, whose been a reporter on Channel 41, AmericaTeVe - Joe Carollo's new home away from home - to find out whether he's agreed to take the job, but he's not responded.

Even under the best of circumstances, being a government flack isn't all it's made out to be in TV comedy shows, and in Miami, next year the truth is going to become the first victim when the shit really starts flying.

It's Miami, Bitches!
