I believe that the citizens of Miami should know who the Mayor and City Manager meet with, and how they spend their days, and so since Francis Suarez became mayor, I've periodically been requesting and posting their office calendars.

Like so many other things in the city, this process instead of becoming simpler, has gotten more difficult, resulting in another exchange of nasty emails and a threat of having to file a lawsuit to force both the mayor and the city manager to release these documents.

I can undertand that both Francis Suarez and Emilio Gonzalez are pissed off at me for what I write about them, but that that's immaterial to the right of the governed to know what the governors are up to.

Below are the calendars that I finally received.

I direct your attention the the Mayor's calendar which reveals for the first time that a large number of "meetings" have been blocked out as "Private appointments."  

The other new - or at least, for the first time I now know for sure that it's happened - is that Francis Suarez met with a number of city officials on a very serious item, and that meeting does not show up on the calendar.

I've written the mayor's Chief of Staff Jeremy Schwarz, asking for some explanation about these "private appointments," as well as some assurance that all of the meetings with the mayor and other city officials and employees have been accounted for, but he has not responded.

I think the issue of "private appointments" needs to be explained because given the revelations earlier this year that the mayor operated as a lobbyist for the homeowners on Fisher Island and never revealed that information gives credence to the belief that Francis Suarez cannot be trusted to be open and transparent as to his activities while Mayor of Miami.

As for Emilio Gonzalez, I really didn't get an opportunity to do much of a review, but his days are numbered and the rumor around the city is that he will soon be announcing his departure.
