THE HYPOCRISY OF DEALING WITH CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS IN MIAMI

PART II

On February 6th, days after the Super Bowl, the new Police Commander for the Overtown District posted the Tweet ABOVE showing how clean NW 1st Avenue between 13th and 14th Street was.

This is how that same street looked this morning, February 17th, at 7:30 AM.

Chronic homelessness cannot be eliminated by twice weekly street wash downs, and the throwing away of the meager collection of items collected by there people.

This problem has been been going on for years and years, and all the claims by Ron Book, the Chairman of the Homeless Trust that the only solution is home ownership and even getting some of these folks into rental units is both a fool errand, and after all this time a willful refusal to face the truth about this problem.

No one has yet provided me with a detailed financial auditing of the tens of millions of dollars that the Homeless Trust collects and spends every year, but as I detailed in my first story about this problem, although there are a number of folks willing to lie about what they've done in the past, and what they intended to do in the future.

That starts with you Ron Book!
