To quote the great American observer of personal relationships, BB King, "The Thrill Is Gone."
I've given some thought as to how I would one day explain why I finally decided to quit writing this blog, and vacillated between writing a long, detailed explanation, or just a short, sweet adios.
I decided on going with the short and sweet.
I didn't know or expect back in April of 2010, when I started what was then going to be a little blog for my colleagues in the film industry devoted to chronicling the incompetence of newly elected mayor Tomas Regalado's appointment of Harry Gottlieb to handle the issuance of film permits and the city's film office that I would find myself having spent so large a chunk of my life chronicling the incompetence, corruption, greed and in more cases than any municipality deserves, the outright criminal corruption of the elected officials entrusted with running the city of Miami.
But, that's the way it turned out.
Over these years I gave it my best shot, and I tried my best to treat every asshole I wrote about equally. There are only 3 or 4 stories that in hindsight I wish I hadn't written, but there are roughly 4000 stories in the 11 plus years that I did write and stand by.
But, as it's often said, all things, good and bad, eventually come to an end, and so the Crespogram is leaving the building.
I leave you with these observations.
To those who read, enjoyed, and got something from my stories and on occasion supported my efforts, THANK YOU!
To those who I wrote about and came to hate me, vilified me, and kept going to Santeria witch doctors to put curses on me, or getting computer hackers to attack my site, and to the Chief's of Police who ordered their officers to flagrantly break the law in efforts to dig stuff up on me that they hoped would shut me up, FUCK ALL OF YOU!
To everyone else, always remember, IT'S MIAMI, BITCHES!
In closing, I just want to say I'm not dying anytime soon, I am hoping to follow my own advice and move away from Miami, and the only reason I am ending the blog is that there are other things that I wish to do before I get too old to do them, and the time, effort and energy required to write the kinds of stories that I wrote are no longer worth the effort, especially when last month my tweets and retweets on Twitter got almost 800,000 views.
For now @crespogram on Twiter is where you can find me.
