THE CITY OF MIAMI TRIED TO BE CUTE BY STACKING THE DECK OF THE MIAMI 21 TASK FORCE CREATED TO DEAL WITH THE MANY LAND USE PROBLEMS THAT RESIDENTS KEEP COMPLAINING ABOUT. THE ETHICS COMMISSION TOLD THEM THAT THEY COULDN'T STACK THE DECK THE WAY THEY WANTED, BUT THEN IN THE USUAL WAY THAT THEY OPERATE, EMBRACED ANOTHER BULLSHIT LEGAL OPINION FROM ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY GEORGE WYSONG THAT PROVIDED A REACH AROUND THAT WOULD LET THE CITY TO DO JUST THAT, THEREBY ALLOWING THE ETHICS COMMISSION TO SIDESTEP ISSUING A FORMAL OPINION, AND ALLOWING THE CITY TO CONTINUE FUCKING THE RESIDENTS. IN SHORT, IT'S ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF WHY IT'S MIAMI, BITCHES!

"FUCKING THE RESIDENTS OF MIAMI IS WHAT WE DO BEST," should be the motto that hanges across the top of the city commission chambers, because at least that way there would be no confusion as to what goes on at Miami City Hall.

A few months back, after all the uproar about the continued use of Special Area Plans (SAP's) to destroy some of Miami's poorer neighborhoods by developers looking for cheap land to exploit for mega condo and commercial development, the city commission came up with the idea to create a Task Force to look at this problem and others that were the result of the language in Miami 21, the master planning and zoning ordinance passed by the city commission back in 2010.

That decision led to the obvious decision to salt the Task Force with a handful of land use attorneys - THANK YOU MANOLO REYES - who not only were far more knowledgable about the intricacies of the current ordinance - it is after all how they make their money - but that they would be in a position to make sure that the law would not be tampered with in any way that would affect their current or future clients from continuing to bend the city over and screw it every which way but loose when they needed to.

Local attorney and UNOFFICIAL LEGAL OMBUDSMAN FOR THE CITY, David Winker, filed a complaint with the Ethics Commission, which resulted in the Ethics Commission once again turning themselves into a pretzel in order not to have to issue a formal opinion, and instead accepted the arguments provided by the city that would allow them to "cleanse" their error by voting by 4/5th to ignore the law that was created to stop this kind of hanky-panky from occurring.

In short, the choice was either engage in an honest, top of the deck process, or stack the deck, deal from the bottom, and when caught, allow the same commissioners who stacked the deck to approve their behavior by a 4/5 vote.

You can guess what the choice of the current crooks and scammers at City Hall decided to go with.

The actual vote will take place next week, and in anticipation of this bullshit, Winker sent the following letter to the commissioners.

It pretty much speaks for itself, and for the residents, which is something that the so-called elected officials won't do.
