ALEX DIAZ DE LA PORTILLA TREATS THE POLITICAL COMMITTEE THAT WAS FORMED TO SUPPORT HIS CANDIDACY LIKE A PERSONAL PIGGY BANK, OR TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY, THIS IS WHAT IS LOOKS LIKE TO BE A POLITICAL PIG AT THE TROUGH

There was some kerfuffle over on Twitter about the campaign expenses of Kionne McGhee, who is running for the District 9 county commission seat and I was queried as to whether I had ever seen this kind of alleged use of campaign money for personal expenses.

Of course, I replied. The last time that Reverend Richard Dunn ran for reelection I ended up filing a complaint with the Florida Election Commission over his acceptance of cash, and a failure to file appropriate paperwork that in large part was based on his using campaign money to finance his lifestyle.

He wasn't the first, and he won't be the last politician who treats his campaign account like a personal piggy bank, but in all fairness, there is no one who does it with such brazenness and a "fuck you" attitude as Alex Diaz de la Portilla.

If it wasn't for campaign money he'd be on food stamps and welfare.

According to the Florida Election Commission, the money collected and spent by a Political Committee must be spent in the following ways:

Alex Diaz de la Portilla quit being a candidate, and became an elected official on November 27, 2019.

In addition, there were no candidates and/or isses before the voters from November 27, 2019, that were identified by the Political Committee as being qualified to receive or have money spent on their behalf.

In fact, the Statement Of Organization hasn't been amended since May 10, 2018, which means that brother Reiner isn't on the guest list either.

Floridians For Responsible Solutions, the other Political Committee cited in this document has lain dorment since 201, and also show the wear and tear of financing Diaz de la Portilla food and travel needs.

So, if you adhere to the letter of the law as articulated in the rules for political committees in Florida - a novel concept when it comes  to some candidates - the only expenses that should have been covered by Proven Leadership For Miami-Dade County PC, should have been specifically spent on advocating or defeating the election of a candidate, or to sponsor a proposed constitutional amendment.

Catering, restaurants, UBER, airline tickets, drinks and even the salaries of campaign workers for the 7 months after Diaz de la Portilla quit being a candidate and became an elected official raises serious questions of how would he have financed his lifestyle without all of this money?

It's Miami, Bitches!
