TO ALL CONCERNED,

Please be informed that Seniors in Action made a delivery of boxes of food for the Seniors at Counsel Tower North, 1040 Collins Avenue, today July 30th, 2020. Canvassing staff from Candidate Renier Diaz De La Portilla is distributing the boxes and telling the seniors that this food is being donated by Renier Diaz De La Portilla and asking for their Vote. In addition, an employee from City of Miami Beach is helping in this event. Attached, please find a picture of the employees City car and Candidate Renier Diaz De La Portilla staff member with a clip board in the lobby, additional staff was distributing the boxes of food throughout the building and telling the residents that the food was being donated by Candidate Renier Diaz De La Portilla and also, asking for the residents Votes. All these can be reviewed in the building video surveillance camera system.

The boxes of food delivered by Seniors in Action are paid by State of Florida and Federal Tax Dollars and it is illegal for a Candidate to use our tax dollars for his personal campaign. This has been a continued practice by Candidate Renier Diaz De La Portilla and all low  income housing projects have surveillance video systems that can confirm this illegal action throughout the entire district 5 low income housing buildings. This criminal action using our tax dollars must not be allowed no matter what your last name is or who your brother is.

This building has 5 case confirmed with Covid-19 and the memo emailed by Matthew W. Garwick on July 15th (Attached) prohibits all candidates and their staff from entering these building and the Renier Diaz De La Portilla Campaign is violating this order all over the beach, risking contamination of Covid-19 to residents in other buildings and using our tax dollars for his campaign.

You can confirm everything stated in this email by interviewing the tenants at all your senior housing projects and reviewing the video surveillance camara system.

Commissioner Higgins and my Campaign along with all other candidates have respected the Memo issued by the City of Miami Beach and the guide lines from the Housing Department to avoid increasing the risk to seniors. The Renier Diaz De La Portilla Campaign has irresponsible decided to place our seniors at risk and this is not acceptable to our seniors and the other candidates from all races from County Mayor, Judges, etc.

In addition, in the City of Miami at Robert King High Towers, 1405 N.W. 7 Street and adjoining housing projects the Canvassing Staff from Renier Diaz De La Portilla Campaign have been asked to leave on a daily bases to avoid contaminating the seniors and they continue to illegally enter the project. This practice must STOP and they must be held responsible for their actions.

Respectfully,

Miguel Soliman

Candidate for Commissioner Miami Dade County, District 5

NUMBER 175 - JULY 31, 2020

CRESPOGRAM SERIES

Alex and Renier Diaz de la Portilla are classic examples of grifters who have discovered that running for public office is like having the keys to a private piggy bank that gets filled with money from people who in many instances know exactly the kind of scum that these two brothers are, and are more than happy to give them thousands and tens of thousands of dollars because they can be depended on - most of the time - to deliver on the sweetheart deals agreed to with under the table handshakes.

It's not just that these brothers openly make little effort to hide their activities when it comes to their tactics in getting these people to fork over money, but in order to get elected, they also have to make sure they get the majority of votes, and as I first reported in May of last year, Alex Diaz de la Portilla had developed, with the help of Marjorie Carollo, the wife Commissioner Joe "Comemierda" Carollo, a pipeline of largely illegal Venezuelan women recruited online to be campaign workers for both his county commission effort and his subsequent city commission race.

In my story last May I revealed transcripts of phone texts between some of these women working for Alex's unsuccessful campaign for county commissioner as they illegally trolled the hallways of senior citizen housing looking for prospective absentee ballot signatories, and who as the transcripts revealed, had little compunction in tearing up ballots that might have a vote for Alex's opponent.

I know when I learned that Renier had decided to run for that same county commission seat that it would only be a matter of time before I started getting word about Renier's "campaign workers" trolling the hallways, like they had for his big brother Alex.

Last night I, along with 56 other folks got a copy of the email and accompanying photos sent by Miguel Soliman, who is also running for the District 3 seat.

The letter chronicles the usual misbehavior that has been associated with all the recent, and probably All of the political campaigns that these guys have ever been involved in.

Which raises serious questions as to why, or why year in and year out these kinds of violations are allowed to occur with impunti not only by the Diaz de la Portilla brothers and others like them who look at and treat the campaign laws of Florida  as a joke.

Just days ago, the Police Chief of Miami got a stepladder to get on his high horse to declare that he was imposing a "Zero Tolerance," on the behavior of protesters walking in the streets. If they did, he would have his officers arrest the protesters and cart them off to jail.

Yet no one has, or would ever declare a "Zero Tolerance," for the illegal acts committed by the campaign workers on a daily basis, nor has a city manager ever fired a public employee for using a city vehicle in the furtherance of a political campaign.

The state attorney won't do anything. The city managers, and the county mayor won't do anything, the Florida Elections Commission will accept a complaint, take months, if not years to investigate it, and then maybe, just maybe impose a chump change fine.

The laws have no teeth, the public officials have no courage, the police chiefs are cowards who selectively choose whose rights to abuse for political reasons, and the politicians all know this and do what they want, when they want and laugh all the way to the ballot box.

Here is Soliman's letter and photos.
