CRESPOGRAM SERIES

NUMBER 157 - JUNE 20, 2020

THE PLOT THICKENS OVER THE MAYOR'S DINING OUT AT SWAN LAST THURSDAY NIGHT BECAUSE IT TURNS OUT THAT THE DAY BEFORE HIS 2ND APPEARANCE AT THE RESTAURANT, AN EMAIL, WITH PHOTOS SHOWING PEOPLE VIOLATING SOCIAL DISTANCING GUIDELINES WAS SENT TO HIM AND OTHER CITY OFFICIALS, AND THAT IN ADDITION TO SWAN, THE EMAIL REVEALED A SELECT GROUP OF STRIP JOINTS - NOT RESTAURANTS - HAD ALSO OPENED ON JUNE 12TH IN VIOLATION OF THE PROHIBITION AGAINST "CLUBS" OPENING UNTIL PHASE 3

PART II

On Thursday, June 11th, Mayor Francis Suarez at Grutman's Swan restaurant in Midtown having a good time.  I received the photo from one of my sources and I posted it as part of Part I of this story yesterday.

I have been led to believe that it was the failure of the Miami Police Department to act on this phone call that prompted Carlos Gimenez, the Miami-Dade County Mayor to inform the Chief of the Miami-Dade Police Department to do whatever he needed to do to shut down the venues in the city who were in clear violations of the guidelines, and who the Miami Police Department refused to do anything about it.

It guess the reason for that failure was the Chief was too busy out buying grease for his hair so he could look good on one of the Fox News TV shows he's become a regular on expounding on what a great job his department is doing with all this virus and protester stuff.

It's always Miami, Bitches!

I did not learn until after I posted my story that this photo had been one of a large collection of photos, videos and club flyers from several strip clubs sent to Francis Suarez, the Miami City Manager, all of the Miami City Commissioners, the Chief of Police, the Mayors of Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County, along with a number of TV reporters complaining about what the write believed was a flagrant double standard being invoked by the city when it came to allowing only select "clubs" to open.

The most interesting thing that Brito's email revealed, in addition obviously to the photos and videos that showed patrons at Swan dancing with wild abandon while hoisting giant magnums of champagne and having the time of their lives was that even after receiving this email, Francis Suarez returned to Swan on the following night with four other people.

While Martin might not have had supper with Suarez, I still believe that the news media should always pay close attention to any meeting that the Mayor of Miami has with developers like Martin, because Suarez's history of doing deals behind closed doors that end up screwing the residents of Miami are becoming the defining actions of his term as mayor.

CHEEZ IT IT'S THE COPS

Sometime after Suarez arrived at Swan last Thursday, someone called in anonymously to 911 to report that activities were occurring at the club that violated the COVID-19 guidelines.

A Miami police officer was dispatched, and efforts to get information about this call, and whether the police officer witnessed any violations and wrote up an incident report have created its own brouhaha, as evidenced by the email I received when I made a request for information about this incident from the Miami Police PIO Office.

In a statement following the news story that Erika Carrillo broke on Friday night about the mayor's activities, Maria Soledad Cedro Limperopulo, the woman who Francis Suarez had supposedly hired as a $25,000 media consultant, and who now is being identified as the Mayor's Director of Communications, issued the following statement that WFOR, Channel 4 included as part of their story of the temporary closing of Swan and 2 other restaurants in the city of Miami by Miami-Dade County,

The first problem with this press release is that contrary to the claim that the mayor, "had dinner at a table with three other individuals," a second photo taken shows that there were four people at the table.

You can see that the man at the end of the table has a napkin in his lap. That man was identified as Vince Lago, Vice Mayor of Coral Gables.

The second problem with this press release is the claim that the Mayor, "is doing everything he can to responsibly support small businesses."

While Swan is touted as being owned by Grutman and the singer/song writer Pharrell Williams, what is not commonly known is that Live Nation, who claims to be the world's largest live entertainment company is the majority owner of Grutman's company.

Live Nation also holds the lease to the Bayfront Park Amphitheater, and among the new projects cited in the above press release is a restaurant at the old Miami Women's Club in Edgewater.

The third problem with all of this is that the cops you see in the above photo are part of Francis Suarez's personal bodyguard detail, that also includes everybody's favorite, "Sneakers The Bodyguard."

The fact that they are there means that Suarez was chauferred to this event, and that the taxpayers paid for the SUV, the gas and the salary of these bodyguards as they stood around.

This is turn means that besides whatever arrangement Suarez has with Grutman, who as I pointed out in PART I of this series is represented by Lou Terminello of Greenspoon Marder, where Suarez allegedly receives a $300,000 annual check for wiggling his plucked eyebrows at new clients, this so called dinner meeting was actually a  meeting between the Mayor and one of the city's largest developers, and in case you didn't spot him in the above photo, that developer was developer David Martin.

( NOTE: I received a message from David Martin that that is not him in the photo, and that he has never had dinner with Suarez at Swan.

That raises the question of who did the Mayor have supper with. One of the other people at the table has been identified as Vince Lago, the Vice Mayor of Coral Gables, who many people call the son that Xavier Suarez which he had had.

Identifying who he had dinner with at Swan last Thursday is the least that Francis Suarez should do, given that the taxpayers paid for the SUV, the gas and the police bodyguards who stood by to protect him during the dinner.
